Music plays an important role in our curriculum and is taught by specialist teachers. During class music lessons, children learn to develop their vocal and instrumental skills whilst also nurturing an appreciation for different types of music. Over 70% of children have individual instrumental and singing lessons, and the majority of children participate in our junior and senior choirs as well as various ensembles.
During weekly Drama classes children are involved in role-play, improvisation and the technical aspects of Speech and Drama. Opportunities to perform are invaluable in developing confidence and high self-esteem. We provide our children with numerous opportunities to sing, play instruments, speak to an audience, discuss and debate. Class assemblies, concerts, plays and the annual poetry and music festivals make for a very full calendar. With such regular opportunities both in and out of school, our children quickly become comfortable standing up sharing their ideas and opinions.
